Malaysia Airlines subsidiary Firefly has taken delivery of its first ATR 72-600 at a ceremony in Toulouse.
The aircraft is the first from an order for 20 ATR 72s plus 16 options placed by Malaysia Airlines in December 2012. East Malaysian regional carrier MASwings is expected to take delivery of the type as part of the deal.
The new aircraft will enter service with the airline on 12 July on the Subang-Johor Bahru route.

"We have been looking forward to this day for quite some time now. We are thrilled to finally receive our new aircraft, says Firefly chief executive Ignatius Ong. "Our exclusive ATR 72 fleet has allowed us to develop a unique high frequency network out of Subang, Penang, Kota Bahru and Johor Bahru. Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle communities, their population and economy will also capitalise on this important investment."
Firefly operates a fleet of 12 ATR 72-500s from its base at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah airport in Subang.
