Turkish Airlines' and Lufthansa's joint venture airline SunExpress has unveiled a new colour scheme to celebrate Istanbul's selection as a European 'Capital of Culture' this year.

The Boeing 737-800, registered TC-SUZ, has been painted at Lufthansa Technik's Hamburg facility.

"We have been operating for two years from Istanbul," says SunExpress general manager Paul Schwaiger. "Because of this, we want to thank Istanbul in a special way."

SunExpress has chosen Turkey's national colour, turquoise, for the fuselage, with a design derived by 10 Turkish and German artists.

It will operate in the scheme for five years across European and Turkish destinations.
