Tom Risley becomes senior VP and chief operating officer (COO) and Vernon Broomall VP technology and business development. He joins from Pricewaterhouse-Coopers where he was senior consultant in the global aviation practice. Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) has appointed Paul Green to the newly created post of deputy executive director-COO, responsible for the operational functions of Los Angeles International, Ontario International, Van Nuys and Palmdale Regional airports. He was director and CEO of Marine Division of Washington State Department of Transportation. Joseph Chronic has been named VP flight operations at America West Airlines. He has been a pilot for 28 years, most recently with Trans World Airlines. Anthony Mulé has been appointed senior VP customer service and John Wilson named VP operations planning and analysis. In-flight entertainment systems provider, Matsushita Avionics Systems, has appointed Peter Hardie VP Europe. Hardie, who has worked with Airbus Industries for 19 years, replaces acting VP Ray Pease, who resumes his previous market development responsibilities. Vicente Cervo has been appointed director, North America, with Brazilian flag-carrier Varig, replacing Carlos Muzzio, who is taking control of the airline's European operations. Peter Bialobrezski has been named president of Litton's VEAM division, replacing Al Bernardini who is retiring but remains an advisor until August 2001. VEAM manufactures parts for specialised commercial and military applications.
