ARINC has appointed John Belcher as chief executive, succeeding chairman James Pierce. Belcher was formerly chief executive of Hughes Aircraft of Canada.

The Italian treasury has persuaded executives at defence group Finmeccanica to resign. Finmeccanica president Alberto Lina will make way for Pierfrancesco Guarguaglini while chief executive Giuseppe Bono will move to state-controlled shipyard Fincantieri and will be replaced by Roberto Testore, formerly chief executive at Fiat.

Luxair chief executive Christian Heinzmann, who was appointed director general of the Belgian state railway in late April, has resigned from the post and will stay at Luxair. Heinzmann objected to political interference with his restructuring plans for the railway.

Thai Airways International chairman Virabongsa Ramangkura has announced plans to resign just seven months into the job. The announcement came as a new president Kanok Abhiradee took charge on 2 May.

Components manufacturer Goodrich has named Brian Brandewie as president avionics systems. Brandewie was formerly vice-president and general manager of Goodrich's regional, business and military aircraft wheel and brake business. Cindy Egnotovich becomes president of its engine and safety systems group, succeeding Jack Carmola, now president electronic systems group, and Harry Arnold becomes vice-president commercial programmes for its aerostructures business.

BAE Systems' US subsidiary, BAE Systems Advanced Systems, has named Pat McMahon as general manager of its Greenlawn, New York plant.

Virgin Express has appointed Stephen Murphy as its fourth board member. Murphy is Virgin Management's executive director transportation, responsible for the Virgin Group's air and rail interests. He was previously finance director of the Virgin Group.
