Private Chinese start-up carrier Juneyao Airlines has taken delivery of its first Airbus A319 from lessor GE Commercial Aviation Services (GECAS), pictured below.

Shanghai-headquartered Juneyao Airlines is planning to launch domestic operations from Shanghai Hongqiao airport. It has today taken the first of eight leased A320 family aircraft, comprising two A319s and six A320s, which it ordered from GECAS in March.

Airbus says that the two-class configured A319 will be deployed on commercial operations “in the coming weeks”.

By January 2007 Juneyao Airlines will take delivery of two more A320 family aircraft to operate “several domestic trunk routes”, says Airbus, connecting Shanghai, Zhengzhou, Taiyuan, Changsha and Sanya.

The new carrier, which secured general administration of the Civil Aviation of China (CAAC) approval in June 2005, recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Airbus for 40 aircraft including widebodies.
