United Arab Emirates carrier RAK Airways is to introduce a pair of Boeing 737-800s to its fleet and expand its network to a fifth destination, the Egyptian capital Cairo.
RAK Airways, based in Ras Al Khaimah, resumed operations in October after an overhaul of its business plan. It began serving Jeddah and Kozhikode and is opening two routes to Bangladesh.
It started services with a Boeing 737-400 but says its new routes will be served by two 737-800s. The carrier has not mentioned a source for the aircraft.
Cairo will be flown three times per week from 15 December. RAK Airways chairman Sheikh Omar Bin Saqr Al Qassimi says the airline has "delivered on its mandate" to add three more routes within two months of launching.
"With our competitive fares, load factors on our inaugural routes have been extremely positive and we are optimistic that we will be able to replicate this success with our Egypt and Bangladesh routes," he adds.
