RUAG Aviation is to co-operate with German regional-aircraft support specialist Rheinland Air Service to offer ATR 42/72 landing-gear MRO services.

The Swiss aerospace and defence group will overhaul the turboprop family’s landing gear at its facility in Interlaken, while Monchengladbach-based Rheinland Air Service is to provide support services including equipment exchange and installation.

RUAG says it will be the “only independent full-service provider” for ATR 42/72 landing-gear MRO in Europe.

After the group established its landing-gear aftermarket programme for Dornier 228 aircraft – RUAG having taken over production of the utility turboprop – expanding the capabilities to ATR 42/72 was “a natural next step”, says senior vice-president of subsystems and products Volker Wallrodt.
