Integration of RUAG Aerospace's Integrated Self-Protection System (ISSYS) on the new Eurocopter Cougar transport helicopter is progressing.
The prototype programme under which four helicopters were equipped with the system was certified by the Swiss Authorities on 9 September. The series contract for modification of the whole fleet was signed on 6 May.
ISSYS incorporates a multi-sensor warning system (MSWS) that detects threats by detecting ultra-violet emissions from approaching missiles. A counter measure dispenser system (CMDS) consists of chaff and flare dispensers capable of deploying the latest design in decoy units.
RUAG (Stand E442) is working with Avitronics on the programme which is under the control of the Swiss defence procurement agency.
