++ Qantas plans to codeshare on Reno Air services, connecting with its flights from Los Angeles to Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland, starting in January 1998. Qantas says that the deal will improve links between Los Angeles and San Francisco. ++ Pan American World Airways has filed for approval to codeshare with Ecuador's SAETA Airlines on flights between Miami and New York. ++ Canadian Airlines International has transferred its Vancouver-Nanaimo service to codeshare partner Pacific Coastal Airlines, using a 30-seat Shorts 360, allowing Canadian Regional Airlines to redeploy aircraft to other, more profitable routes. ++ Delta Air Lines and Transbrasil have received US approval for codeshare/-blocked-space flights between the USA and Brazil. ++ Mesaba Airlines has signed a ten-year agreement with Northwest Airlines, allowing it to continue operating all Northwest Airlink services from the major carrier's Minneapolis/St Paul hub. ++ Northwest Airlines has signed a "joint-service affiliation" agreement with Aloha Airlines to allow connections between its flights from the mainland USA and Japan to Honolulu and Aloha's Boeing 737 services throughout Hawaii, beginning on 1 December. ++ American Airlines has signed a codesharing agreement with Delta Connection carrier Business Express (BEX), on selected Saab 340 services in the north-east USA and Canada. The services will be operated by BEX as American Connection, to avoid confusion with American Eagle. ++ Brit Air has signed a franchising agreement with Air France. The regional airline is now operating as an Air France franchisee on some 30 routes, including 20 previously operated as Brit Air routes. ++ China Airlines has signed a reciprocal codeshare agreement with American Airlines, with effect from 1 December, covering Taipei to Dallas, Chicago, Miami, New York and Washington services, via Los Angeles and San Francisco.
