Safran has completed the consolidation of its electrical power businesses, as Labinal Power Systems.

The consolidation plan, indicated in the run-up to the 2013 Paris air show, followed the French systems major’s acquisition of Goodrich Electric Power Systems from United Technologies. United was obliged by regulators to divest a number of businesses to win approval for its $18 billion takeover of Goodrich in 2012.

The new entity combines the Goodrich business with Safran’s existing Labinal wiring and Safran Power onboard distribution units. It also includes its Aerosource (electrical systems maintenance, repair and overhaul), Safran Engineering Services (specialist services) and Technofan (ventilation systems) operations.

Alain Sauret heads Labinal Power Systems, which sits within the group’s aircraft equipment division. He oversees some 12,000 employees in 45 locations.
