A company that acquired the assets of US airframer Emivest, maker of the SJ30 business jet, says it will keep the aircraft alive under the banner of SyberJet Aircraft.
SyberJet is an operating unit of MT, a company linked to Utah-based parts manufacturer and SJ30 aft fuselage provider, Metalcraft Technologies. MT purchased Emivest's assets in bankruptcy court for $5.19 million in April.
Since the purchase, SyberJet says it has moved the wing manufacturing portions of the aircraft from a facility in West Virginia to Metalcraft's aft fuselage production plant in Cedar City, Utah.
The company said it is continuing operations in Emivest's final assembly and delivery centre in San Antonio, Texas. SyberJet did not reveal whether new aircraft are being built. Emivest, and Sino-Swearingen before it, produced four aircraft, though several more were on the production line when operations were halted in October 2010.
Mark Fairchild, SyberJet's San Antonio general manager, said the company has "a solid operating plan to deliver new SJ30s to the world marketplace".
