EVA Airways and Far Eastern Air Transport (FAT) have been granted permission by Taiwan's Investment Commission to invest in a cargo terminal venture at China's Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport, clearing the way for the project.

EVA and FAT, along with China Airlines (CAL) and Taiwan Airport Services (TAS) will each invest around $3.4 million. The four companies will take a combined 49% stake in the 220 million yuan ($27 million) venture, leaving 51% for Xiamen Airport. Construction of the project providing cargo handling, storage, transportation and related services should begin in August, with operations beginning next July or August.
