All three people on board a Let L-410 UVP-E freighter were killed when it crashed into a field shortly after take-off from Bergamo, Italy last week.

The 30 October flight was being operated by Croatian carrier Trade Air from Bergamo Orio al Serio airport, near Milan, bound for Zagreb, Croatia on a charter for express package carrier DHL.

Two pilots and one passenger were on board the 14-year-old twin turboprop (9A-BTA). Take-off took place at 22:03 in fog with 350m (1,150ft) visibility, which the airport says is sufficient for operations there.

According to witness reports, the aircraft started to turn left immediately after take-off with its bank angle increasing until it dived into the ground at an angle of around 45°, hitting wires just before impact.

The aircraft reportedly reached a maximum altitude of about 350ft, and no radio call was received.

The data and voice recorders have been recovered, apparently in good condition.
