TransAsia Airways is to acquire four Airbus A330-800neo jets, the Taiwanese carrier has disclosed.

It has given the value of the transaction as “not more” than $480 million.

TransAsia disclosed its intention in a statement to the Taiwanese stock exchange. It has not given a delivery date.

Airbus had revealed, earlier this year, that an Asian carrier had committed to four A330-800neo aircraft – although it has not confirmed whether TransAsia is the unidentified customer.

The A330-800neo is the smaller of the two A330neo variants, both of which will be powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines.

TransAsia already operates the A330-300 on long-haul services and its fleet includes Airbus A320-family jets and ATR turboprops.
