Turkish Airlines has decided to order 15 more Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft, adding to a previous firm order of 40 of the type and 10 of the larger 737 Max 9 aircraft.

The decision was announced on 9 June in an update posted to the carrier’s investor relations web site.

The new order for 15 aircraft leaves the Star Alliance carrier with options for 10 more 737 Max aircraft.

The options conversion comes 13 months after Turkish Airlines unveiled the largest Boeing order in the carrier’s history, which included firm orders for 50 737 Max aircraft and 20 737NGs.

The 737 Max and 737NG are powered exclusively by the CFM International Leap-1B and CFM56-7B, respectively.
