Virgin Atlantic is to operate a seasonal service from Belfast to Orlando next year.

From 25 June until 23 July, the UK carrier will conduct weekly Boeing 747-400 flights to the Floridian city from Belfast International airport. This is Virgin Atlantic's first route from Northern Ireland.

Weekly flights from Glasgow to Las Vegas are also planned for September and October 2015. Again, a 747-400 will be deployed.

Both flights will be included in Virgin's codeshare agreement with equity partner Delta Air Lines.

Flightglobal's Innovata schedules show the UK leisure carrier will compete with Thomas Cook on the Belfast-Orlando service but will be the only operator on the Glasgow-Las Vegas route.

Long-haul services from Northern Ireland are exempted from the UK's air passenger duty.
