Spanish start-up operator Pullmantur Air has signed a "Total Technical Support" maintenance deal with Lufthansa Technik (LHT) for its two Boeing 747 Classics. Work will be performed at Madrid Barajas airport. Meanwhile, Lufthansa's Star Alliance partner Austrian Airlines is the first customer outside the Lufthansa Group to sign up for work at LHT Budapest in Hungary. Five Airbus A321s and six A320-200s will be serviced under a five-year deal. Boeing and Air France Industries have set up a 777-component services programme to give airlines worldwide rapid access to critical components while reducing inventory holding, repair and administrative costs. Air Austral is the first customer for the service, which will allow airlines to reduce their inventory of dispatch critical line replaceable units.
