Russia's Yamal Airlines has contracted Lithuanian MRO provider FL Technics to provide engineering and maintenance planning services for Bombardier CRJ aircraft.

According to Flightglobal's Ascend database, the Salekhard, Siberia-based carrier currently operates one CRJ200LR and one Challenger business jet.

However, the contract with FL Technics covers eight aircraft, suggesting a planned expansion of the regional jet fleet.

The Vilnius-based company gained European Aviation Safety Agency approval to conduct engineering and maintenance planning services for CRJ-100/200 aircraft last month.

Apart from the regional/business jets, Yamal operates a mixed fleet of Airbus A320, Antonov An-24, Boeing 737, Tupolev Tu-134 and Yakolev Yak-40 aircraft as well as Mil Mi-8 helicopters.
