THY Turkish Airlines has introduced an Airbus A310-300 freighter. The 41t payload aircraft is being flown on services to Maastricht, Frankfurt, Nuremberg and London. THY also plans to use it on scheduled flights to Almaty, New Delhi and Tel Aviv.

THY carried 130,000t of cargo last year, and says that the addition of the new cargo aircraft will provide more flexibility. It plans to add a second A310-300F next year.

THY has been a long-time user of the A310 passenger aircraft, and still operates five -300s. The airline is considering converting some of these aircraft to freighters to meet its cargo needs, and its THY Technic division is creating a new organisation for converting passenger aircraft to freighters.
