Lufthansa Technik could establish a completions centre in Asia to get more business in the region.

"You can do completions in the USA or in Europe, but we have to look at this region. Sooner or later we have to come here or we will not get the best share of this market," says Walter Heerdt, senior vice-president marketing and sales at the company.

He declined to say where this facility would be located, or if it would form part of one of the company's existing maintenance, repair and overhaul joint ventures in Asia. The company has a significant MRO presence in Beijing, China and in Manila, the Philippines.

Heerdt adds that the company sees "a lot of potential" in China. Over the last two years, it has delivered three completion projects to Chinese customers and has another four projects - including a Boeing Business Jet - in its order books.
