Yelahanka Air Force Base here in Bengaluru will be bursting at the seams this week as the 2011 Aero India event focuses global attention on the country's booming aviation market.

The show will break all records, say organisers, with visitor and exhibitor numbers soaring.

The organisers say a total of 675 exhibitors from 29 countries are here at the show, up 14% over the 2009 event. Overseas exhibitors make up nearly half of this number with 380 turning up, compared to 303 last time.

The number of aircraft in the static display has grown by half to 70 (excluding Indian Air Force types).

Business visitor numbers are expected to hit the 70,000 mark this year, up from just over 50,000 in 2009. A staggering 275,000 members of the general public are predicted to watch the superb aerial displays over the course of the show, up from 250,000 in 2009.

The Aero India event sprawls over a site covering 75,000sq m and features seven halls, a large static area and a long line of business chalets at the Yelahanka Air Force Base here in Bengaluru.
