Israeli unmanned air systems (UAS) manufacturer Aeronautics has been awarded a contract for the long-term support of Orbiter mini UAS by NATO.

As part of the contract, Aeronautics will conduct a mid-life upgrade programme for the Orbiter UAS fleet operated by an unspecified NATO member – thought to be Poland or the Netherlands – in Afghanistan.

The $10 million contract includes full renovation and modernisation of the Orbiter fleet over the next two years. In addition, the programme will also include the provision of a spare parts inventory that will enable the Orbiter UAS user to operate the majority of its existing Orbiter systems during the upgrade.

The multi-year support contract also enables other NATO members and partner organisations to purchase systems and support services.
