Air China's board has confirmed the appointment of Wang Changshun as its new chairman.

Wang previously served with Xinjiang Airlines and China Southern Airlines, and was a deputy director at the Civil Aviation Administration of China.

He replaces Kong Dong, who resigned from the position at the end of 2011 after his retirement. Wang took over Kong as the general manager of Air China's parent company, China National Aviation Holding Company, in December.
