Low-cost carrier AirAsia is looking to partner with more cargo agents in an effort to boost cargo revenues by 40% this year.

AirAsia "is tying up with more cargo agents and large export-import firms", says AirAsia, adding that demand for the carrier's bellyhold space is increasing.

"The airline considers cargo as a major area of [revenue] growth for 2010" and this year expects its cargo revenues to increase 40%, it says.

"South Asia is of particular interest to us because of our rapid expansion there," it adds. Since last November, AirAasia has started flying to three destinations in India - Kolkata, Trivandrum and Kochi.
