In-flight connectivity provider Aircell has secured an additional $35 million in financing from existing investors and the company's management team.
"Since securing our exclusive spectrum license in 2006, we've raised more than $500 million," says Aircell. The company's existing investors include Ripplewood Holdings, Blumenstein/Thorne Information Partners and other investment entities associated with entrepreneur Oakleigh Thorne.
By year-end 2010 Gogo states its in-flight Internet service was featured on 1,050 commercial aircraft operating on 3,800 flights daily in the US.
Currently Gogo is available on all flights offered by AirTran, Virgin America and mainline Delta flights. The service is also featured on Air Canada, Alaska, American, Untied and US Airways.
Gogo expects to debut on Frontier Airlines shortly.
