Aircell has partnered with in-flight shopping publication SkyMall to enable passengers to shop from the latter firm's web site during flight at no charge.

Launching in December, some 850 aircraft equipped with Aircell's Gogo in-flight Internet service will offer free access to SkyMall.com.

Participating carriers include Gogo customers AirTran Airways, Alaska Airlines, Delta Air lines, US Airways and United Airlines.

"Through this partnership, SkyMall is now able to offer access to an expanded selection of merchandise and a full, digital rich, multi-media shopping experience for its customers while they are onboard and connected to Gogo's Wi-Fi service from their laptop or mobile device," says Aircell.

Aircell chief marketing officer Ash ElDifrawi adds: "This collaboration demonstrates how the Gogo platform can be used to enhance the passenger experience through strategic partnerships with companies like SkyMall."
