ILFC has ordered 38 Airbus aircraft: 12 A340s, 14 A330s, six A320s, three A321s and three A319s. Deliveries will start in May 1997. The Los Angeles-based lessor has also ordered 18 B777s with deliveries starting in 1999.

Northwest Airlines has ordered 20 A320s with deliveries starting in 1998.

Aeroflot Russian International Airlines is to lease four A310s from the manufacturer.

Air China is to take delivery of three A340-300s ordered by China Aviation Supplies from mid-1997.

Mesaba Airlines, the Northwest Airlink operator, has ordered 30 Saab 340BPlus with a further 22 options, and will take an additional 20 used Saab 340As. Deliveries start in May 1996 and continue through to September 1998.

Danish carrier Cimber Air has ordered three ATR42-500s.

Atlas Air is to lease five B747-200Fs from Federal Express until 1998.

Qatar Airways has bought a B747SP from Air Mauritius brokered by UK-based Isis Aviation Services.

Charter operator Caribjet has leased a L1011-500 from TAP Air Portugal in a deal brokered by Fortis Aviation. The aircraft will be used on a wet-lease contract with Air-India.
