Regional turboprop manufacturer ATR took 74 firm orders during 2012 and delivered a total of 64 aircraft.

The airframer detailed its figures during a briefing in Toulouse on 23 January.

ATR's orders came from 11 customers and the company also recorded 41 options on its sales books.

By the end of 2012 it had taken total net orders for 1,254 aircraft and delivered 1,033 - leaving a backlog of 221.

All of its 74 sales last year were for the new -600 variant of its turboprops, with the ATR 72-600 accounting for all but three aircraft.

ATR's largest order came from Malaysia Airlines, with a deal for 20 firm and 16 optioned turboprops.
