Air Transport Services Group (ATSG) subsidiary Cargo Aircraft Management has firmed the acquisition of three Boeing 767-300ERs from Qantas.

ATSG says it plans soon to complete arrangements for the modification of the three aircraft into full freighters to support their deployment into during the first half of 2011 on a leased or wet lease basis.

The aircraft, powered by GE CF6-80C2-B6 engines, should have a 3,255nm range and a maximum payload of 54,480kg (120,000lb).

Pending terms of the modification agreement, ATSG estimates the total cost to purchase and modify each aircraft to a full freighter configuration should fall between $28.5 million to $31.5 million, according to Air Cargo Management Group.

The company expects to fund the aircraft purchases and modifications from existing credit facilities.
