Australia's Civil Aviation Safety Authority plans to next year establish a consultative group to look at safety and safety regulatory issues affecting the country's general aviation sector.
CASA has a number of groups that meet regularly to discuss safety and regulations, including the Standards Consultative Committee. It has already established the Regional Aviation Safety Forum, which focuses on regional aviation, and the Sports Aviation Forum, which covers that sector.
A new body, to focus on the high-capacity passenger carrying sector, will be set up this year, to be followed by the GA body next year, says CASA director of aviation sector John McCormick.
They will be standing consultative groups that will meet twice a year to allow emerging safety issues to be identified in a formal setting, he says.
