Elbit Systems has won a contract to supply a mixed fleet of Hermes 900 and Hermes 450 UAS to Colombia. Deliveries will take place over the next two years.Elbit Systems says only that the contract was awarded by a "Latin American" country, but sources in the Israeli defense establishment say the contract was awarded by the Colombian government as "government-to-government" deal. This arrangement was imposed by the Israeli ministry of defence after a previous contract was cancelled because of a "power struggle" between Elbit and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), the major Israeli manufacturers of UAS.The contract includes universal ground control stations (UGCS) and a variety of payloads and capabilities including the Elop division's advanced electro-optic payloads and the Elisra division's COMINT intelligence systems, SAR/MPR multi mode radar and additional sensors.
