Oneworld alliance member British Airways has suspended its codeshare agreement with India's embattled Kingfisher Airlines.

It says the suspension took effect from 9 March owing to Kingfisher's "undergoing financial restructuring".

But BA adds that it looks forward to reinstating the codeshare and accepting Kingfisher as a member of Oneworld at the right time.

The codeshare came into effect following the provisional acceptance of Kingfisher into the alliance in 2010.

It initially covered Kingfisher domestic services from key Indian cities as well as a number of British Airways flights to Europe from London Heathrow.
