British Airways faces a fresh round of strikes by cabin crew after their union today announced plans for a new ballot for industrial action.
The joint general secretary of the Unite union, Tony Woodley, announced that the union had rejected BA's latest offer to settle the rumbling grievance as unacceptable and said a new strike vote would get underway shortly.
The union says the ballot should be concluded in early January, which would give mid-month as a likely time for strikes to go ahead in the event of a positive vote by staff.
The dispute, which was sparked late last year by BA's decision to reduce the number of cabin crew on certain flights, resulted in a series of disruptions last spring.
Although the dispute has fallen back to relatively minor points of argument, Unite is adamant that certain conditions must be met by BA before matters are settled. These include the restoration of full staff travel concessions, which were stripped from personnel who took strike action earlier this year.
