Middle Eastern carrier Bahrain Air is planning to open services to Pakistan, having started operating a new connection to Bangladesh this week.

It has also disclosed its intention to start flights to Istanbul.

Bahrain Air's Bangladeshi connections bring thrice-weekly services to Dhaka and four-times weekly services to Chittagong into its network.

The airline plans to operate to Istanbul twice per week from 16 June, and states that it wants to introduce Pakistani flights "later this year".

Bahrain Air says it transported 750,000 passengers last year but is aiming for 1 million in 2010, and to break even in 2011.
