Anti-submarine warfare (ASW) helicopter manufacturers are awaiting a decision by the Indian navy on which models will be selected to proceed to the demonstration phase of the competition. Responses to a request for proposals were submitted in April by AgustaWestland, Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL)/Eurocopter and Sikorsky.

India is seeking 16 helicopters and is expected to take options on eight more. AgustaWestand is leading an NH-90-based bid, while HAL is proposing an EC725 solution. Sikorsky is offering S-70Bs through a direct commercial contract, and MH-60Rs via the US government as a foreign military sale.
