Dubai International airport¹s biggest customer Emirates suffered a major headache last week, when an accident to a Biman Bangladesh Airlines Airbus A310 closed the airport for most of the day. The 12 March incident involving one of Biman¹s four A310-300s occurred after a suspected nose-gear collapse during its take-off run. The A310 came to rest at the end of the runway and was evacuated, but crippled Dubai¹s only active runway and forced the airport to close for 8h, affecting 71 flights. Thirty-five inbound aircraft were diverted to nearby airports in the United Arab Emirates as well as Muscat, Kuwait and Shiraz.
