Bombardier has handed over the 300th Challenger 300 business aircraft to a North American customer. The delivery comes seven years after the first super-midsize aircraft entered service with the airframer's fractional ownership company Flexjet. The eight passenger aircraft was formally launched in 1999 under the Continental brand, to emphasise its US transcontinental design mission. It was renamed the Challenger 300 in 2002 to associate it more closely in customers' minds with Bombardier's market leading, large-cabin Challenger 600 series.
