Bombardier unveiled a new look for the CSeries at this year's Paris air show.

"We have upgraded the aerodynamic design to include next-generation engines," says Benjamin Boehm, CSeries programme management and marketing director.

"The 2013 engines have an extremely high bypass ratio. We have made aerodynamic improvements to the nose section."

Bombardier has also reduced the size of the aircraft's wing. "At the request of the market we've optimised the wing of the [110-seat C110] more for 2,700nm [5,000km] range, rather than 3,000nm," says Boehm.

The stretched, 130-seat C130's wing would be dimensionally identical, but include some strengthening. Boehm says 5,000km is sufficient for the transcontinental-range requirements of potential North American CSeries customers.
