Brazilian air taxi operator Laguna Linhas Aereas has announced bold plans to transition into a major domestic airline operating a fleet of Fokker aircraft.

Little more is known about the Sao Jose dos Campos-based operator except that it recently received the administrative authorisation from Brazilian authorities to initiate the certification process to convert its operations from air taxi to scheduled passenger services, a process it must complete before April 2011.

The carrier's website says Daniel de Souza is serving as Laguna's president, and also states the carrier's intent to operate 48 Fokker F100 and F50 aircraft to 96 domestic destinations in Brazil.
