Cessna Aircraft has appointed India’s Chimes Aviation Academy as its third pilot training centre in the country.

The academy, which is based at the Dhana Airport in Sagar, a central Indian city, will host a Cessna Pilot Centre, the only flight schools that are allowed to use the company’s integrated computer-based instruction system.

“Demand for aviation in India continues to grow, even during these tough global economic times,” said Julie Filucci, Cessna's manager for Cessna Pilot Centres. “Chimes Aviation Academy is a world-class training facility with a team of talented aviation specialists that will work well with Cessna's exclusive training curriculum.”

Uday Punj, director of Chimes Aviation, says that his company aims to create a world-class pilot training academy at Dhana. “We are driving a culture of excellence in all facets of flight training, beginning with our fleet of brand-new single-engine Cessna 172 aircraft with Garmin G1000 integrated class cockpits. With our appointment as a Cessna Pilot Centre, Chimes Aviation Academy is poised toward redefining the paradigm of pilot training in India.”

Chimes’ appointment in India follows that of Amber Aviation in Uttrakhand and Touchwood Aviation Academy in Raipur in the country last year. There are nearly 280 Cessna Pilot Centres in nine countries, including Australia, Germany, the Czech Republic, Canada, Chile, Jamaica, Mexico, South Africa and the USA.
