Colombian investigators are probing an excursion involving an Embraer EMB-120 turboprop which veered off the runway while landing at La Macarena.

The aircraft (HK4973) had been operating from Bogota for Servicios Aereos Panamericano (Sarpa).

Meteorological information from La Macarena is unavailable but video images purporting to show the landing on runway 35 indicate heavy cloud and rain showers.

The images suggest the aircraft initially landed on the runway but subsequently veered to the left as it decelerated.

Colombian civil aviation authority Aerocivil says the turboprop "suffered a mishap" during the landing on 19 August at about 08:00.

It states that none of the 29 passengers and three crew members was injured. The extent of damage to the aircraft, a 1989 airframe originally delivered to Rio Sul and subsequently operated by airlines including Avianca Brasil, is not clear.
