Comlux America, the US completions and service centre arm of the Comlux Group, has broken ground on an extension to its VIP completion hangar. The new construction is expected to be completed in six months, and will raise the footprint of the hangar to 14,600m² (160,000ft²) – large enough to accommodate one widebody and four narrowbody aircraft simultaneously.

The first aircraft to occupy the new building will be an Airbus A330. The twin-aisle airliner is scheduled for delivery to the Indianapolis site in July, marking Comlux's entry into the widebody completions market. The project – the ninth completion for Comlux America – is expected to take around two years.

Meanwhile, the US company has installed and certificated the first future air navigation service (FANS) 1/A+ system on a Bombardier Challenger 601. It was awarded supplemental type certification to install FANS-capable equipment on the Challenger 600 large cabin business jet series last month.

Work is now underway on a second 601, the company says.
