Venezuelan carrier Conviasa is suspending all operations from today while it carries out a audit and review of its procedures.

The decision follows the fatal loss of an ATR 42 on a domestic flight on 13 September, the latest serious incident involving the carrier.

Conviasa says its "temporary" suspension will remain in effect until 1 October. The airline states that it will undertake a technical audit and evaluate the procedures in use by the carrier.

Passengers with Conviasa tickets, says the airline, will be reassigned to other carriers.
