Al Bateen Executive Airport, which markets itself as the Gulf region's "first and only dedicated private aviation airport", has announced a 12% increase in aircraft movements for the third quarter of 2011 compared with the same period in 2010. The airport registered 1,903 commercial traffic movements in the period between July and September this year, and the fastest growing segment of traffic was visiting aircraft using Al Bateen as a regional stop or an alternative gateway to Abu Dhabi or the United Arab Emirates. Visiting aircraft alone registered growth of 42%, to 202 movements, in comparison to the same period last year.

"As an airport dedicated to business aviation, the significant increase in visiting aircraft reflects the increasing volume of business traffic in Abu Dhabi," said Steve Jones, Al Bateen Executive Airport general manager. "The airport's strategic location, providing businessmen with access to the central business district of the city, is one of the key strengths of this facility.

"Having access to a private customised airport also provides efficient operation with the ability to save time through offering quick aircraft handling turnaround through the dedicated FBO service at Al Bateen, DhabiJet," he added.
