The pride of Italy's aerospace industry paraded over the crowd to formally close the first day of the Dubai air show.
Nine Alenia Aermacchi MB-339-PAN jet trainers - Italy's famous Frecce Tricolori aerobatic team - escorted an Alenia Aeronautica C-27J Spartan flying lead. The latter, which is on the shopping lists of several Middle East militaries, performed a full 360° roll, a rarely observed manoeuvre for a cargo aircraft.
The C-27J and MB-339 fly-over came after an Alenia Aermacchi M-346 Master performed a demonstration flight in the 14:50 time slot. The United Arab Emirates selected the M-346 in February, but the contract remains unsigned.
