EADS Casa will deliver at least three C-295 transports equipped with a maritime patrol and search and rescue sensor suite to the Chilean navy. The new contract, which includes an option to buy five more aircraft, raises the total orders for C-295s to 58 aircraft and eight operators, of which 37 have already entered service.

Chile's fleet will be equipped with an EADS Casa-developed mission system called the Fully Integrated Tactical System, which can be integrated with undisclosed sensors for the maritime patrol and search and rescue mission.

EADS Casa has also been selected by Chile to provide two Airbus A310s as VIP transports and air-to-air refuellers. Chile also had selected the Airbus A400M, but has since decided to review its options for replacing or upgrading a fleet of Lockheed Martin C-130s.
