EasyJet has decided to stick with the Airbus A320 for its long-term fleet, and plans to order up to 135 aircraft including 100 A320neos.

The UK low-cost airline already operates a fleet of over 200 CFM International CFM56-powered A320-family aircraft. The A320neo has been selected "after a thorough technical evaluation", says Airbus.

The carrier has "identified a need" for 100 A320neos along with 35 of the current engine option variant equipped with sharklet winglets. The latter will "bridge" to delivery of the Neos. Of the 135 aircraft, 85 will be for replacement. Any deal will be subject to shareholder approval, adds EasyJet. No engine selection has been announced.
