NEW SWISS AIRLINE Edelweiss Air has launched a scheduled low-fare service from Zurich to Luton, using two ex-Airtours McDonnell Douglas MD-83 twinjets. The service is part of a city-break package, which also includes Vienna, organised by minority strategic investor Kuoni Switzerland. The five flights a week are also timed to appeal to the business traveler. Edelweiss already undertakes inclusive-tour flights from Switzerland to the Balearics, Canary Islands, Cyprus, Portugal and Tunisia. The shareholding is divided between Venus Air, the owners of which run Greek charter airline Venus Airlines, with 40%, Kuoni Switzerland (33%) and private investors.
