Brazilian airframer Embraer has appointed a new president for its Asia Pacific office in Singapore.

Ricardo Pesce, who comes with 30 years of sales and corporate experience and has been based in Singapore since 2001, will be responsible for corporate affairs in the region, says the company. It did not say when he was appointed.

He takes over from Alex Glock, who remains in Singapore as Embraer's vice-president for the airline business and will lead efforts to sell the company's regional jets in the region. The company's senior management in Singapore includes Jose Eduardo Costas, who is vice-president for the executive jets business.

Embraer's Singapore office is responsible for the entire Asia Pacific region except mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau, which come under the purview of Embraer's Beijing office.

The company has had limited success selling its passenger aircraft in the Asia Pacific, where the regional jet market has been slow to take off. Its business jets have, however, begun to increase their market share in the region's growing corporate aviation business.

Its defence platforms are being considered for several regional airborne early warning and maritime patrol requirements, while Indonesia became the first Asia Pacific customer for the Super Tucano turboprop trainer and light attack aircraft in November.
