Middle Eastern carrier Emirates is again attempting to switch its Moscow operation to an all-Airbus A380 route, after backtracking on a previous effort.

It operates two daily flights to Moscow Domodedovo from Dubai, using the A380 and Boeing 777-300ER.

But Emirates says it will deploy A380s on both rotations from 1 October.

It had previously disclosed plans to turn the Moscow link into an all-A380 operation in 2014 after putting the double-deck type into service on the route in 2012.

But instead it reverted to using 777-300ERs on both daily flights, before reintroducing a single A380 service last year.

"Replacing the [777] will significantly increase capacity on the route and meet growing demand from customers," says the operator, which began serving Moscow in 2003.

Its use of 517-seat A380s on both daily flights will provide more than 1,000 extra weekly seats on the route, it adds.
